Licensing

Legal information about Draco

Draco is copyrighted by Approximatrix, LLC.  Draco will be licensed under the GNU General Public License when released.  The initial release will be licensed under version 3 of the GPL.  The GPL allows anyone the right to use and modify Draco for free, provided any subsequent distributions maintain the original copyright statements and terms.  Therefore, anyone wishing to distribute Draco may do so under the terms of the GPL without any further licensing necessary from Approximatrix.

Support

Approximatrix provides full support of Draco, including maintenance of the base distribution.  Free support is available, and support issues will be addressed in due course.

Approximatrix also provides commercial support of Draco.  The purchase of a commercial support package will entitle the user to priority assistance and bug fixes.  Approximatrix will work closely with commercial customers to ensure that Draco can provide the problem-solving abilities tailored to your organization.

At this time, Draco has not yet been released.  Upon final release, support packages will be made available to commercial, academic, and private customers.  Check back at the Draco home page for updates on when the release will occur.

Feature Requests

Approximatrix is always working to add features to Draco.  Feature requests will always be accepted and, possibly, incorporated into the base distribution.  Commercial feature addition packages will be made available with negotiable pricing based on the nature of the addition.

Third Party Additions

Approximatrix will consider all code additions to Draco for inclusion with the base distribution.  The only requirement is that all code submissions be licensed under the GNU GPL version 3 or higher, or a compatible license (see the Free Software Foundation's guide).  Approximatrix does not require copyrights to be assigned to Approximatrix, as there are no plans to move to a proprietary or closed-source licensing scheme.  All code submissions will be properly and prominently credited.
